What has already been done for this conference:

Programming
  • A sustainability track has been added to the conference program that deals exclusively with sustainable development issues
  • A renown environmentalist was brought in as the keynote speaker
Awareness
  • A post-conference greening report will be written
  • A sustainability section has been added to the website
Environment protectionPaper consumption
  • Presenters are being discouraged from distributing handouts and if they must, presenters are encouraged to print multiple slides on every page
  • Conference registration has been preformed electronically, including confirmation
  • The mid-year conference report was produced on a CD with a minimal number of paper copies
  • Conference presentations will be offered to delegates via the website and the 'Internet Café'
  • Card holders and signs are being printed preferentially on high recycled content paper
  • One-side-used scratch pads will be provided for delegates to take notes
Waste
  • Gifts included in the conference registration package are durable with a high potential for reuse
  • Most of the signs will be templates with interchangeable info components
  • Reusable cutlery and dishes are being used at all major events
